Karin Borgh

arin Borgh is Executive Director of the BTC Institute. She received a B.A. in Japanese from Stanford University and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Child and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before leaving academia to help establish the BTC Institute in 1993, Karin taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, focusing on teacher training.

For the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Karin serves as Adjunct Professor for the Master of Science Program in Biotechnology. She is a member of the NASA Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium Advisory Committee and is also the Honorary Director of Promega-Hannam BTCI for Hannam University, Daejeon, Korea.

Karin has served as a member of the Advisory Committee for Gateway Technical College’s Bioscience Program and of Madison Area Technical College’s K-16 Partnership Council. She chaired the Education Committee for the Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Device Association (now BioForward). From 2003 to 2007, she served as a discussion leader for “Medical Ethics and Palliative Medicine,” a required course for medical students at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

In 2002, Karin received the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) Business Education Partnership Award. At the request of Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster, she served on the Department’s Leadership Team for the American Diploma Project and Partnership for 21st Century Skills in Wisconsin. As a DPI appointee, she is continuing to serve on the Advisory Council for the Great Lakes West Comprehensive Learning Center at Learning Point Associates, Napierville, IL.
